Chevy competes directly with Ford in most of its lineup. The Silverado 1500 is equivalent to the Ford F-150, and the Colorado is Chevy’s current competitor for the mid-size Ranger. Silverado heavy-duty trucks are also available to compete with the Ford Super Duty Trucks.

The Chevy Silverado is Chevy’s flagship, full-size truck. It’s also made in a mechanically identical form of the GMC Sierra. The light-duty Silverado 1500 is often simply called the Silverado, while the heavy-duty trucks are called the Silverado HD. As of the newest generation introduced in 2019, the Silverado comes in eight different trims. Engine choices include a four-cylinder, a V6, a V8 and a diesel inline-six. The Silverado HD comes in similar sizes to the Ford Super Duty trucks. The 2500 and the 3500 are the most commonly seen. The dual rear wheel regular cab 2020 Silverado 3500 HD is capable of towing as much as 35,000 pounds, which is best in its class.

The Chevy Colorado started production for model year 2004, and the most recent generation started in 2012. The Colorado is a mid-size pickup that is available in a regular cab, extended cab and crew cab configuration. The original Chevy mid-size pickup was the S-10, which Chevy discontinued in 2004 to make way for the new Colorado. The S-10 has the distinction of being the first compact pickup truck built in America by one of the three main American automakers.
